Linda P. Torres - Associate
LINDA P. TORRES received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Douglass College in 1968, her M.Ed. from the University of Puerto Rico in 1971, and her Juris Doctorate, with honors, from Rutgers University School of law- Newark in 1980. She was admitted to the bar of the State of New Jersey and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey in1980, and to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 1996.
Ms. Torres presently serves as Legal Advisor to, and previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of, the International Boxing Federation/United States Boxing Association. She also served as Chair of the Supreme Court of New Jersey Ethics Committee for District VA and is currently a member of the District VA Fee Arbitration Committee. She also presently serves on the Board of the Volunteer Lawyers for Justice and is a member of the Juvenile Conference Committee, a member of the Steering Committee of Reentry Legal Services, a Trustee of Legal Services Foundation of Essex County, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Education Law Center. She served on the Essex County Bar Association Pro Bono Task Force and the Reentry Legal Services Task Force and is a past president and current member of the Executive Board of the Rutgers University School of Law - Newark Alumni Association.
In 2007 the Firm received the Dickinson R. Debevoise Award for Pro Bono Service from Legal Services Foundation for Ms. Torres’ work as the manager of the pilot program for Newark ReLeSe. In 2001, she was honored by the YWCA of Essex & West Hudson as a “Woman of Influence” representing the field of law. Ms. Torres has been selected for inclusion in New Jersey Super Lawyers for 2009. She is a member of the New Jersey State and American Bar Associations; the Essex County Bar Association and its Litigation and Labor and Employment Law Sections; and the Association of the Federal Bar of the State of New Jersey. Ms. Torres is fluent in Spanish.
