ROBERT J. COONEY is counsel to the Firm’s litigation division and is primarily concerned with defense of medical malpractice and products liability cases. Mr. Cooney received his BS degree from Fairfield University and an LLB degree from Georgetown University.

He was admitted to the Connecticut Bar on August 9, 1960; U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut, 1963; U.S. Appeals Second Circuit, 1968; and U.S. Supreme Court, 1971. Past President and current member of the Civil Litigation Committee of the Bridgeport Bar Association, member of the Civil Litigation and Administrative Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association, member of the Civil Litigation Section and Tort and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association. Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, August 1986 to present; past Treasurer and committee member of the Fairfield County Law Library Association; former law clerk to the late Hon. James E. Murphy, Associate Justice, Connecticut Supreme Court; listed in Best Lawyers in America and Connecticut Super Lawyers, 2006-2011.
