Robert K. Gunn - Of Counsel
ROBERT K. GUNN was awarded his Juris Doctorate degree in 1986 from the Columbia University School of Law. He was admitted to the bar of the State of New Jersey and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey in 1986. In 1995 he was admitted to the bar of the State of New York.
Mr. Gunn joined McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter in 2011. He started his professional career as a litigation attorney with McCarter & English where for several years he handled and tried a wide mix of commercial and product liability cases ranging from industrial and personal machinery accidents to complex multi-party life science, pharmaceutical, chemical and asbestos cases. His considerable experience trying asbestos cases includes acting as lead counsel for, and going to verdict on behalf of, a major insulation manufacturer in the New York State Powerhouse Consolidation Trial which involved dozens of New York State powerhouse workers and lasted several months.
Following his time with McCarter & English, Mr. Gunn honed his trial skills further running his own firm for ten years and acting as “Counsel of Record” for Reliance National Insurance Company on an insurance program covering the five boroughs of New York City. During this time he was involved in numerous trials in New York courtrooms from the Bronx to Queens and everywhere in between. After the collapse of Reliance Insurance Company in the early part of 2000, Mr. Gunn went on to become Trial Counsel for several New York City toxic tort/asbestos firms during which time he managed and tried asbestos cases, in some instances on a national basis, for numerous corporations, including electrical component manufacturers, automotive and railroad friction product manufacturers, pump and valve manufacturers and insulation contractors. He also broadened his toxic tort experience into the areas of mold, lead, benzene and diacetyl, having assisted in the management of the diacetyl litigation nationally for a Dutch chemical company.
