Thomas R. Hurd

THOMAS R. HURD practices in the area of civil litigation, including construction, surety, professional liability, personal injury and products liability.

From 1976 to 1980 he tried criminal cases for the Defender Association of Philadelphia.  He joined the Solicitor’s Office of the United States Department of Labor, where he tried cases under OSHA, MSHA and “whistleblower” statutes.  From 1982 to 1987 Tom tried primarily personal injury and construction cases at Farage & McBride.  In 1987 he joined what became Monteverde, McAlee & Hurd, eventually becoming President of that firm. 

Tom is a member of the bars of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the state of New Jersey and the following federal courts: Eastern District of Pennsylvania; District of New Jersey; Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

Tom is the author of How Do I Get Paid, Remedies for Pennsylvania Contractors and Subcontractors, published by Mondaq, and was a contributing author to the following seminar materials published by the National Business Institute: "Pennsylvania Construction Law, What do You Do When...."; "Advanced Construction Law in Pennsylvania," "Construction Defect and Mold Litigation” and “Construction Defect Litigation from A to Z "

Tom has spoken before attorneys and contractors on various aspects of construction law including construction defect and mold litigation, delay claims, payment remedies and termination. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Philadelphia Bar Association and its Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association and its Construction and Public Contract Law Section, and the American Association for Justice.
