VIMAL K. SHAH is an experienced trial and appellate litigator in employment law matters. He represents employers' interests in all areas of labor and employment law including: employment discrimination claims involving disability, race, sex, religion, age, and sexual harassment; ERISA class action litigation; contract and discharge arbitrations; employment handbooks; workers' compensation discrimination; employment law torts; and individual and collective bargaining contracts. He is also an experienced mediator in employment and commercial law matters.

Mr. Shah is admitted to the bars of the states of Illinois, New Jersey and New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third, Seventh and Ninth Circuits, and the United States District Courts for the District of New Jersey, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois.

Mr. Shah has served on numerous elected and appointed positions including: President of the Asian-Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey (2003 - 2005); Member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Character (2003 - 2007); Member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Minority Concerns (2005 - 2007); Member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Civil Practice Rules Committee (1998 - 2004); Director of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association (1998 - 2000); Vice Chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Essex County Bar Association (1999 - 2001); and Member of the Advisory Board of the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association (2005 – present).

In June 2003, Mr. Shah received DuPont Corporation's J. Michael Brown Award for his efforts on diversity issues. He also received a Professional Lawyer of the Year Award from the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in 2000. Mr. Shah has also repeatedly been listed as a "Super Lawyer" in New Jersey, most recently in 2011.

Mr. Shah’s speaking engagements and publications include “Advanced Mediation Techniques,” presented at the 2011 Northeast Regional Conference of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association; "New Jersey Courts Should Adopt the Hicks Rationale," published in the New Jersey Labor and Employment Quarterly, which he co-authored with John J. Peirano; and "Americans With Disabilities Act as it Relates to AIDS in the Workplace," published in the CBA (Chicago Bar Association) Record.

Mr. Shah received his B.S.E.E., with high distinction, from Ohio Northern University, and his Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from the University of Illinois. While in law school, he served as Topics Editor of the University of Illinois Law Review. Mr. Shah served as Law Clerk to Honorable Harold A. Baker, U.S. District Court, Central District of Illinois.
