Law Students

Our summer associates program mimics our associate review process.

Our summer associates program mimics our associate review process.

Our summer associates program is designed to provide law students with a well-rounded experience and real and exciting challenges both personally and professionally. We have structured our 10-week summer program to provide a broad experience that reflects life as an associate at the Firm. Summer associates will learn how to practice law by working with seasoned lawyers on complex matters and business transactions for our clients. Summer associates will attend client meetings, trials, depositions, hearings, and negotiations along with associates and partners at the Firm.

Similar to a newly hired associate, each summer associate will be assigned a mentor who is available to answer questions and help guide them through the summer program and beyond. The summer associate review process mimics our associate review process where each summer associate’s work is reviewed and constructive feedback is provided.

A typical week will include professional training and at least one social activity that provides an opportunity to get to know as many McElroy Deutsch attorneys as possible in a fun and relaxed setting. Trips to different office locations enable our summer associates to experience each office’s unique attributes as well as the Firm's broader culture. Social activities include events such as a day at the races, a cooking class, and a meaningful week-long program for the summer associates to mentor high school students who potentially want to enter the legal field one day. These events help summer associates form long-lasting relationships with one another and professionals at the Firm.
