Ryan P. Mulvaney - Of Counsel
RYAN P. MULVANEY graduated from Seton Hall University in 1996 and Seton Hall University School of Law in 2002. In 1999, Mr. Mulvaney served as a judicial intern to then-United States Magistrate Judge Dennis M. Cavanaugh of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. During 2002-03, Mr. Mulvaney served as law clerk to United States District Judge Cavanaugh. In 2002, Mr. Mulvaney was admitted to the bars of New Jersey and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Mr. Mulvaney is engaged in litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts in New Jersey and other jurisdictions in the areas of commercial and business litigation, and contract disputes; residential default-servicing representing secured lenders, mortgage servicers, and investors in all aspects of contested mortgage litigation, defensive and other litigation, title insurance claims and litigation, and other default-related matters; class action defense litigation; corporate investigations, compliance, auditing and crisis management; life and disability insurance litigation representing insurers with respect to claims for benefits under policies of insurance; local government law; election law; surety litigation; and employment litigation in the area of non-competition disputes.
Mr. Mulvaney was appointed to the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Special Committee on Election Law, and is a voting member of the Special Committee’s five-member Subcommittee on Legislation, which reviews and formulates positions on pending legislation concerning and affecting election law. Mr. Mulvaney regularly represents candidates during election cycles in election recounts and contests, and has served on Election Day legal teams for New Jersey gubernatorial, legislative and municipal candidates.
Mr. Mulvaney is a contributing author of the annually updated New Jersey Local Government Desk Book (Gann 2007), specifically the chapters on the Open Public Records Act and Election Law. Mr. Mulvaney also provided the research for an article that addressed the potential liability of corporate officers and directors of environmental companies pursuant to various state and federal environmental statutes. Mr. Mulvaney is also a Member of the Board of Directors of the Historical Society of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey; a member of the American Bar Association; the New Jersey and New York State Bar Associations’ sections on Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law sections; the New Jersey State Bar Associations’ Federal Practice Committee; the Essex County Bar Association and serves on the executive committee of the Essex County Bar Association’s Federal Practice Committee. Mr. Mulvaney was selected for inclusion in the New Jersey Super Lawyers®-Rising Stars Edition in 2009 and 2010.
Outside of the office, Mr. Mulvaney serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of, and volunteers to coach Squirts, Pee Wees and Bantams for, the Montclair Hockey Club, a youth ice hockey organization steeped in fifty years of history in northern New Jersey.
