STEVEN P. DEL MAURO is a 1980 graduate of Seton Hall University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Legal History. He received a Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law. He served as Judicial Clerk to the Honorable John L. Ard, Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey, and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the District of New York, Southern and Eastern Districts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He has extensive experience in civil and complex commercial litigation and appellate practice before all state and federal courts concentrating in the representation of life, health, disability, and long term care insurers, with respect to claims for benefits under individual and group policies of insurance, class action litigation, market conduct practices litigation, insurance fraud, and agent/broker liability. In addition, Mr. Del Mauro represents management and fiduciaries with respect to claims asserted under employee benefit programs and employment-related disputes including matters arising ERISA, ADA, NJLAD, ADEA, OWBPA, TITLE VII and FMLA.
Mr. Del Mauro is an active member in various bar and insurance-related associations demonstrating a national presence in life, health, disability, and ERISA law. Locally, he is a member of the Association of the Federal Bar of the State of New Jersey and the New Jersey State and Morris County Bar Associations. He is also an appointed member of the Historical Society of the United States District Court, for the District of New Jersey. He is an active member in the Health and Disability Insurance Law and Life Insurance Law Committees of the American Bar Association, and served as Chair of the Health and Disability Insurance Law Committee (1996-1997). He is a member of the Defense Research Institute Committee on ERISA, Life, Health, and Disability Law; the American Counsel of Life Insurers; and the International Claim Association.
Mr. Del Mauro is a frequent public speaker on all topics involving life, health, disability, and ERISA law.
