John P. Cookson

JOHN P. COOKSON is a member and Practice Group Manager of the Litigation and Insurance Services Group and has extensive experience in all manner of litigation, at both the trial and appellate levels, including products liability, construction and Labor Law, construction defect, auto and premises liability, mass tort, legal malpractice, catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death, risk transfer, and insurance coverage.

Prior to joining the Firm, he practiced in the New York office of LaBrum & Doak. Mr. Cookson began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Trial Division of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, where he served as lead counsel in hundreds of prosecutions, from inception through trial and appeal.

He is a member of the New York and New Jersey bars and also admitted to practice in the federal courts in the Southern, Eastern, Western, and Northern Districts of New York, the District of New Jersey and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He received his A.B. from the College of the Holy Cross and his J.D. from New York Law School.
