BERNARD E. JACQUES represents and counsels management in employment and labor matters. He has litigated a variety of employment related claims, including discrimination, sexual harassment, breach of contract, defamation, retaliation, whistleblower and violation of restrictive covenants in both federal and state courts on both the trial and appellate levels.
In addition, he has represented management clients in employment and labor matters before both federal and state administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Connecticut Department of Labor and the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities.
Mr. Jacques also has extensive experience advising clients in all aspects of employment law, including investigations of sexual harassment, employee discipline and leaves of absence. He has reviewed and prepared employment policies and employee manuals. In addition, he has drafted and negotiated numerous employment contracts.
Mr. Jacques has also lectured and spoken often on employment and labor matters both in public and client forums. He has been a commentator on employment and labor matters in traditional print media, as well as radio and television.
Mr. Jacques is a member of the Labor and Employment Section, as well as the Litigation Section, of both the Connecticut and American Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York state courts, the District of Connecticut, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the Second Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
