Colleen M. Duffy

COLLEEN M. DUFFY is experienced in all aspects of litigation including bench and jury trials in federal and state courts, arbitrations, mediations, pretrial discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations and administrative proceedings. She also has extensive experience in handling state and federal appeals.

Ms. Duffy represents employers in cases alleging wrongful discharge, discrimination, sexual harassment, whistle-blower claims, breach of express and implied contract, wage and hour, independent contractor/employee, unemployment benefits ineligibility, family/medical leave issues, and related claims of defamation, tortious interference, and the like. She also litigates to protect employers’ trade secrets and to enforce restrictive covenants and counsels employers in a wide range of employment matters, including employee termination and workplace policies and compliance.

Ms. Duffy’s practice includes representing life, disability, employment practices, commercial, and directors & officers insurers with respect to claims under individual and group policies of insurance, market conduct practices litigation, insurance fraud, ERISA, pension and retirement benefits, rescission, bad faith, and agent/broker liability.

Ms. Duffy received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, magna cum laude, from Seton Hall University in 1981 and her Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1984. Ms. Duffy served as Law Clerk for the Honorable Robert A. Matthews, Presiding Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division, from 1984 to 1985. Ms. Duffy is admitted to the bars of the State of New Jersey, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

Ms. Duffy is a member of the Association of the Federal Bar of the State of New Jersey and the New Jersey State Bar Association and its Labor and Employment Section. She is also a Director of The Historical Society of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and a member of The Historical Society of the United States Supreme Court.
