Nicole A. Leonard

Overview

NICOLE A. LEONARD is a member of the bankruptcy and restructuring practice group and concentrates her practice in the areas of corporate bankruptcy and debtor-creditor rights.  She represents creditors, sureties, bankruptcy trustees, governmental units, and financial institutions, among others, in bankruptcy matters and related proceedings across the country, including in the defense and prosecution of fraudulent transfer and preference cases.  

Ms. Leonard is admitted to practice in the State of New Jersey, the State of New York and the District of Columbia.  She is admitted to the United States District Courts for the District of New Jersey and the Southern, Northern and Eastern Districts of New York.

Ms. Leonard has written bankruptcy-related articles and seminar curricula and has moderated and spoken on panels in New Jersey and New York.  She served as a term Law Clerk to the Honorable Rosemary Gambardella, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of New Jersey in the Newark vicinage.  She also served as a Law Clerk on a rotating basis to the Honorable Novalyn L. Winfield, the Honorable Morris Stern and the Honorable Donald H. Steckroth in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey. She also served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Mark M. Russello, Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen County.

Ms. Leonard is on the board of the New Jersey Bankruptcy Lawyer Foundation.  She is also a member of the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey and has been a member of the Turnaround Management Association and NJTMA Network of Women (“NOW”) Committee; the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (“IWIRC”); the New York State Bar Association, Business Law Committee, the New York Institute of Credit and the Historical Society of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.  She previously served two terms as a member of the District VA Ethics Committee for Essex County, New Jersey. 

She is a graduate of Seton Hall School of Law in Newark, New Jersey and Hamilton College in Clinton, New York.  While at Hamilton, she was a disc jockey for 88.7 WHCL.
