Emily A. Cathcart

EMILY A. CATHCART is a member of the Firm's Litigation and Insurance Services Practice Group.  She focuses her practice on complex litigation matters, particularly those involving insurance coverage and bad faith claims, professional liability, commercial disputes, fraud, subrogation and recovery, and general liability litigation.  She represents corporate entities and individuals, both as plaintiffs and defendants. 

Ms. Cathcart has litigation and appellate experience in the federal and state courts.  She has handled numerous hearings and arbitrations and has obtained favorable judgments for clients at both the federal and state levels. She also has experience advising and representing corporate and non-profit clients in the areas of business bankruptcy, wind-downs, receiverships, and commercial transactions. 

Ms. Cathcart is a member of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations. She is a Volunteer Attorney for the Support Center for Child Advocates and a Member of the Board of Directors for Singing City. 

Ms. Cathcart is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of New Jersey. She is also admitted to the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania, and the District of New Jersey.

Ms. Cathcart received her Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from Villanova University School of Law.  She was inducted into the Order of the Coif and awarded the Dorothy Day Award for pro bono service at graduation.  Ms. Cathcart graduated cum laude from the University of Richmond with a B.A. in political science and minors in economics and law. She currently serves as an alumni liaison for the university. 

During law school, Ms. Cathcart served as Editor-in-Chief of the Villanova Environmental Law Journal.  Her case note was published in Volume 24 of the Journal.  She also served as a student attorney for Villanova’s Farmworker Legal Aid Clinic and was a fellow with the Walter Lucas Public Interest Fellowship Program.  She was a legal intern for the United States Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey and the Honorable Renée M. Bumb of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.  Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Cathcart served as law clerk to the Honorable Marie E. Lihotz, P.J.A.D., of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division.
